Client - Chroma House In 2020, we undertook a major renovation of our home. A family friend recommended Nina. In keeping with the charming French doors and windows that provide a magnificent outlook from our living areas to our back garden, my husband and I were seeking a ‘contemporary French chic’ outcome. Beyond a small collection of images of kitchens and living areas we liked, our initial brief for Nina was limited to expressing the look and feel we were seeking. The challenge was to turn the broad vision into a design concept that could be affordable and practical, while fitting into the constraints of the existing house. In parallel to working with Nina, we had selected a builder whose draftsman had provided drawings of options for reconfiguring the space by knocking down walls. We were delighted with the ability of Nina to translate such a minimal brief into a concept and detailed design, that included complete specifications for interior finishes. Whilst for affordability and practicality reasons, there was a need to make choices that resulted in replacing some items with like ones at lower cost, the finished look stayed true to the concept. In other cases we chose to stay true to the specifications because of the quality and impact they would make. We love the colour scheme, cabinetry, the stone, and special design features, such as a very unique ‘oxford decorative grille’ in top kitchen cupboards, and the metal rangehood shroud. Nina’s ideas and ability to source amazing finishings was second to none in our experience. Fortunately, she pushed us out of our comfort zone. We love every aspect of the finished look and feel. I’d highly recommend Nina if you are seeking a unique tailored design and furnishings. Her ability to interpret a high level brief into reality is a great asset to home owners like us. Client - Braddon Bungalow We started working with Nina on the second renovation of our 1950’s traditional red brick Griffith home. Our brief this time was to push us out of our comfort zone and make the spaces beautiful but liveable for a family of 3 (almost) teenagers! We wanted to achieve separate zones – where we could all entertain our friends. Nina was quick to identify opportunities to better use the space we were renovating – she managed to turn a disused playroom into a beautiful dining space and mud room and transformed the kid’s area with a huge window seat and study area. Nina was highly skilled in recognising what we loved and completing a look and feel within budget. Importantly, she gave us the confidence to step out of our comfort zone and try different colours and design ideas that complemented the old house with a modern classic look. Her advice on furniture selection made the whole process so easy and stress free. Her extensive knowledge and experience impressed both us as well as our builder and joiner. Nina has created a beautiful space that makes entertaining our friends and family so easy. It is a home we love coming home to. I cannot recommend her highly enough – in fact we are about to embark on another project with her! Client - Griffith Garden House We purchased an apartment off the plan, but we had nothing but a washing machine. We contracted Nina while the apartment was being finished to advise us on furniture and decor . We wanted to build on the contemporary features of the apartment, as well as creating a liveable, functional and robust space for us and the grandchildren. Nina was able to identify products from both here and overseas that we would never have been able to find on our own. Her advice on dimensions and finishes was excellent.
