This 1950s red brick cottage needed to evolve to meet the needs of a growing family, creating space for both connection and quiet, for adults and children alike.
A once pokey rumpus room was transformed into a generous new dining area and mudroom, anchored by tailored joinery. Integrating new elements into the original home called for a restrained palette and timeless aesthetic. A careful layering of old and new that brings warmth, character, and soul. A rarely used back bathroom was re-modelled into a study nook and adjacent teen hangout. An existing opening extended allowing natural light to flood the space, while a built-in seat and reading nook were cleverly carved into a tight corner creating a perfect hideaway for reading, playing, or quiet teenage contemplation. Throughout, a blend of natural finishes and understated hues creates a sense of ease, stylish yet relaxed, functional yet soulful. |
