Youthful empty-nesters approached their final build with clarity and purpose: a desire to downsize, simplify, and create a home that felt minimal, elegant, and grounded. With a love of clean lines and honest materials, the brief called for a space that was sophisticated yet easy to live in – refined yet practical.
The original 1920s façade and front rooms were retained and carefully restored, celebrating their charm and craftsmanship. A contemporary new addition, confident and meticulously detailed provides contrast and balance. Interior finishes were selected to soften and complement the architecture, bringing warmth, texture, and just the right amount of personality. A quiet sense of luxury runs throughout, punctuated by moments of play: a cheeky monkey wallpaper in the powder room, cloud wallpaper in the bedroom, handmade zellige tiles, and a much-loved tumbled marble checkerboard floor. Dark-stained veneer joinery introduces depth and polish, while herringbone timber boards add timeless rhythm. The kitchen is pared-back and assured. clean, calm, and quietly sophisticated. The result is a home that feels both grounded and elevated, beautiful in its restraint, and rich in detail. |
